The Myers Group, owner and operator of grocery stores, hardware stores, gas stations, and restaurants in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, has been recognized by the WFIA as its Retailer of the Year for 2023-24.
WFIA President & CEO Tammie Hetrick made the presentation at a surprise ceremony at the company’s offices in Clinton on May 13.
“The Myers Group has long been a fixture in the independent food industry in our state,” said Hetrick. “We at WFIA are especially grateful for the leadership of Tyler Myers, who gives generously of his time and talent as a member of the WFIA board. He lends his voice and knowledge when we are meeting with our state representatives. He is a trusted advisor to WFIA staff, and can be counted on to provide thoughtful and concise feedback when needed,” she added.
“Tyler is always on point, and can be counted on to provide thoughtful feedback to our board, staff and membership.”
The Myers Group first began in 1978when Kent Myers opened Casey's, a single grocery store on Whidbey Island. Since then, the company has grown from a small family business of 25 people to an award-winning retail management company of 600+ with less than 10 percent employee turnover. In addition to its retail operations, the Myers Group also oversees shopping center development and provides management services for other business owners.
Hetrick added that Myers’ models his strong belief in education by promoting professional learning opportunities through the Retail Management Certificate Program and the USC Food Industry Management Program.
“Tyler’s leadership has been essential to the growth and sustained success of the Myers Group. He continually invests in his employees, which is reflected in their retention rate,” said Hetrick.
“We are grateful for his continued leadership and congratulate the entire Myers Group on their selection as this year’s WFIA Retailer of the Year.”
