WFIA is proud to honor Wilcox and Flegel and Don Buck, Director of Retail Operations, as its 2026 Convenience Retailer of the Year.

For more than 100 years, Wilcox and Flegel have distributed fuel and lubricant to people and businesses in the Northwest. The company that began with one person selling heating oil off the back of a truck has grown into a third-generation business known for delivering on its core values: positively impacting others, honest communication, adapting to change, maintaining a safe, strong work ethic, and creating a team environment.

Wilcox and Flegel are focused on the needs of their community and employees. They find ways to participate in community events, initiatives and raise funds for a variety of programs that support and enhance the lives of the individuals in the geography they serve. They are constantly supporting and investing in their employees and as a result have earned their respect and dedication.

The company’s director of retail operations, Don Buck, is known as a visionary – an energetic leader who is bringing new processes, programs, loyalty apps and operational excellence to the organization. In 2024,the company hired Buck to lead their initiative to increase the quality and scope of their C-Store operations, overseeing Flyways convenience stores and restaurant locations owned and operated by Wilcox and Flegel. His passion and experience are a driving force behind the company’s continued success.
